"To trust God is not a wish, it is not a gamble, if you trust Him, you will act it out." - Dr. Patrick Oyinkari

TWIT DEVOTIONAL with Dr Patrick Oyinkari for Monday,

Bible through the year:
Psalm 106:1-12
Proverbs 27:4-6
Ezekiel 14:12-16:42
Hebrews 7:18-28
Scripture for meditation:
Psalm 31:1: “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness”
To trust God is not a wish. It is not a gamble; nor is it a luck or chance game. If you trust Him, you will act it out. It is a matter that demands and involves your whole being, physical, reputational, spiritual and otherwise. There are people who have trusted God and benefited miraculous deliverances as rewards. Example include Daniel who was not afraid to become lunch for lions. It could be said that he preferred such to doubting God (Daniel 6:10). His young friends were not afraid of being thrown into the fiery furnace as a punishment for trusting God and not bowing down to any other god. It did not matter whether God would save them or not. They have come to trust Him, in good times and in bad times (Daniel 3:17-18).
The rewards for such blind faith were that Daniel stayed with the hungry lions and was not eaten up; Shedrach Meshach, Abednego were not hurt by the fire. These miracles happened not because the victims knew that God would deliver them; but because they knew God and had absolute trust and confidence in Him. Do you also know the God you serve? Do you trust Him with your life or in expectation of Him saving you from harm?

To trust God without giving Him conditions is to cause Him to do for you what is best for you. This best may not necessarily be to save you alive. It may also be to save you from life. Paul knew this and declared that for him to die was gain (Philippians 1:21). This is how to trust God – in death or in life. In Revelation 12:11 we read that they loved not their lives unto death. You too must learn to trust God unconditionally. He does not need to do anything to deserve your trust. Let Him do what glorifies Him.
Prayer: Here am I dear Lord, trusting You unconditionally. You owe me nothing for it. Do with me what is right in Your sight, that will give You honour and glory in Jesus name. Amen!
