Indeed love is a beautiful thing, and is worth celebrating. Valentinus a martyr who was sentenced to death in February 14, 270 A.D is the reason for the season of love celebrated by almost everyone every 14th of February. He died because the unbelievers in the gospel of Jesus Christ gave a decree that no man should worship or speak about Jesus Christ but because of the love this man had for God he kept preaching the gospel and even worshiped God the more, so because of the kind of love he had for God he was sentenced to death and killed.
Likewise Jesus Christ the Son of God who because of his love for us all left his throne, came down, suffered and died to save us all. Love is the only reason that made Jesus Christ die on the cross because by merit we were found wanting, but the love he has for us nothing can change not even our sins can change that love for us. Because he loved us even while we were yet sinners we ought to be grateful to him forever for bearing our pain, paying our debt, and giving us salvation. The greatest sacrifice a man can give to someone he loves is to die in his stead. Jesus Christ showed us a perfect example by loving us even when we were sinners, he died for us and by the reason of his death we were justified by the father. We forever are indebted to him for that ultimate sacrifice that brought about our salvation, and has brought in from darkness unto light. The best way for us to show him how much we feel about what he has done for us is to "Love what he loves, and hate what he hates", and also making others know how much he loves and cares about them. As we celebrate a day of love to VALENTINUS, let's use everyday of our lives to keep celebrating the love of Jesus Christ towards us all.
