Scientists have no idea why yawns are contagious. We do know however, that children under four years old don't "catch" yawns, as well as people with schizophrenia or autism. On the other hand, yawns are contagious among many monkeys, wolves, and dogs! If you have a pet dog, try yawning and see if your dog yawns too. Yawning bridges species!
