Spanking is considered abuse in some parts of the world - especially Western Europe. For the rest of the world where spanking is legal, spanking usually consists of light slaps on the buttocks for disciplinary purposes. Even in countries where spanking is perfectly normal, most people would agree that if a child is left with bruises after spanking, something is not quite right.
