President Trump pointing to his head, expressing the fact he didn't forget the name of the dead U.S Soldier whom he was addressing his wife.
"I have one of the great memories of all time", Donald Trump said while disputing the fact he never forgot the name of the slain U.S Soldier while talking to his widow.
The
US president called Myeshia
Johnson last week to offer his condolences after her
husband La David was killed in Niger.
Mrs
Johnson has said Mr Trump caused her
to cry by saying "he knew what he signed up for" and
claimed that the President "couldn't remember my husband's name".
Disputing that
account on Wednesday, Mr Trump said he was "really nice to
her".
"I respect her. I
respect her family. I certainly respect La David, who I by the
way called 'La David' right from the beginning.'"
"Just
so you understand, they put a chart in front: La David. Says La David Johnson.
So, I call right from the beginning, there's no hesitation."
As
well as having the document in front of him, Mr Trump touted his memory as a
reason that he wouldn't have forgotten it.
"One
of the great memories of all time. There was no hesitation. I think she's a
fantastic woman. I was extremely nice to her. Extremely respectful," the
president said.
Mr
Trump was also asked if he should "be more civil" in office.
“You
know, people don’t understand. I went to an Ivy League College," he
said. "I was a nice student. I did very well. I am a very intelligent
person. The fact is, I really believe, I think the press creates a different
image of Donald Trump than the real person.”
